… with love
1. A feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements.
“To be Beautiful means to be yourself. You don’t need to be accepted by others. You need accept Yourself.”
– Thich Nhat Hanh.
1. A proper respect for oneself as a human being.
2.Regard for one’s own standing or position.
Having Respect for yourself and respecting others is beautiful. Holding your head high and veering away from situations that disrespect your body, your mind and your spirit is Golden. Respecting yourself enough to share that same decency with the people around you and being fair in the treatment of others. They say the way you treat others is a direct reflection of who you are and how you feel about yourself. So when we decide to mistreat, back bite, or harm another intentionally it truly speaks volumes about our character. That doesn’t go to say that every time we’re not impeccable with our word we are engaging in a heinous act, but being aware that it isn’t necessary to partake in meaningless conversation is the first step in eliminating them completely. We’re all old enough to know what is good for us and what is not. Being real is respectable. Being Honest, Trustworthy and Loyal to our family/friends and our beliefs is also a commendable act, at least to me. Identifying Respect with beauty emphasizes a command to be treated as equal and furthermore simply extending that generosity to everything else that you do. Most things in life if not all work in a domino effect. If you go about your life disrespecting people for the sake of doing so, you’ll end up alone… Unhappy with a terrible taste in your mouth due the wrongs that your lack of common courtesy created. Who really has time to disrespect others or be disrespected? Not I, no thank you. I’d rather shine my light on the next and soak up there Sun as well.
When I think of someone I respect it would have to be Oprah. I respect her as a business woman, an innovator and someone who does the best she can to be of service to the people around her. She owns a extremely lucrative company (as we all know) and does it all very well while being a Wife and maintaining positive relationships. As I’ve watched Oprah over the years I can see that she has a high respect for herself. She never looks visibly troubled and from the many people that have been able to enjoy her, they say her physical presence and aura speaks volumes. Oprah is definitely an amazing woman to say the least and I can’t wait to tell her my damn self, lol. I’m sure my first few words will be “Girl do know how bomb you are!?” I know she knows. But I’m not about to let her go until I make sure that she knows that I know.
Of course when I think of the word Respect I think of the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. How can I even help it? Song is so good and is definitely something to jam to while you’re cooking 🙂
